Grindavík

Iceland is one of the most magical places I've ever been to. From the volcanoes, lava fields, hot springs, geysers, glaciers, and basalt formations (to name a few), the breathtaking and otherworldly landscape truly makes you feel like you've walked onto an alien planet. We rented a car and drove around the island exploring and stopping by the side of the road countless times to take in the view, snap pics and pet the Icelandic horses.

We took these photos right after visiting Blue Lagoon, a well known geothermal spa in Grindavík, on the southwest coast of Iceland. Much of the terrain in Grindavík is covered in lava fields, and we knew we had to do a shoot when we saw them. It's so eerie to think that in these photos I'm standing on what was once molten lava!

June is summertime in Iceland, but the temperature was still chilly, ranging from the 50s (Fahrenheit) during the day to the 40s at night. I wore an oversized sweater from Zara with a skater skirt and thigh-high socks to keep warm. I love buying my sweaters a size or two up just so that I can wear them as a sweater dress. Sweaters are one of my favorite items of clothing (ever!), and they're even better loungier and cozier.

Also, check out how I styled this cape coat in Dear Madeline!
